If you haven't already discovered Space City Weather's brand of "no hype" weather forecasting, check it out at

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has proclaimed today, June 8, 2021, as Space City Weather Day in Houston, Texas.

Founded by Eric Berger in 2015, Space City Weather has provided Houston residents and business owners with quality weather forecasts to aid them in making informed decisions about protecting their families, property and businesses.

As a meteorologist and former contributor for the Houston Chronicle for 17 years where he was a Pulitzer Prize finalist for his coverage on Hurricane Ike, Eric Berger, alongside his managing editor, Matt Lanza, have utilized Space City Weather to keep Houston informed during some of the City's most turbulent times. During the wake of Hurricane Harry, their website traffic tripled, accumulating over four million site visits as they posted during the storm. Space City Weather reintegrated the site's flood scale during Hurricane Imelda, which sets a realistic expectation ahead of a rainfall event that could produce unprecedented flooding.

On June 8, 2021, Space City Weather will be recognized for its overall contributions to the community. The City of Houston commends and appreciates Space City Weather for it's worthwhile endeavors over the years and extends best wishes for future success.

Therefore, I, Sylvester Turner, Mayor of the City of Houston, hereby proclaim June 8, 2021, as

Space City Weather Day

in Houston, Texas.

In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and have caused the Official Seal of the City of Houston to be affixed this 27th day of May, 2021.

Sylvester Turner
Mayor of the City of Houston

Today is Space City Weather Day in Houston. Yes, really.
