As you are no doubt aware, the City faces
substantial deficits over the next 4 fiscal years (according to the
latest numbers received from the administration, $144 Million in FY2016,
$163 Million in FY2017, $207 Million in FY2018, and $184 Million in
FY2018). In order to give Council Members a better understanding of the
services each department provides (and what services the department
heads feel are “core” or essential services), the Budget & Fiscal
Affairs Council Committee will hold these Core Service Workshops. This
exercise is apparently geared toward making it easier for department
heads and Council Members to determine in the future what services can
be cut without affecting the core functions of the department. Attached is a schedule of these upcoming Core Service Workshops, which will all be held in the Mayor’s Basement Conference Room, City Hall, 901 Bagby. All meetings will be open to the public. |
