North Eldridge Widening to Begin

Most of the utility coordination issues with AT&T have been resolved, and the project is “back on”.  The Contractor is Slack & Co. Contracting Inc., 2990 Holmes Rd., Houston, TX 77002

 Construction will begin June 4 and should be substantially completed by December 1, 2012. Local driveways to residential and commercial properties are required to  be accessible at all times. The project is divided in five phases of construction.  The following is a summary of the phases and the approximate (currently estimated and subject to change) time frame for each stage according to the contractor’s current schedule.


Phase I: June 2012 – September 2012
Close northbound and southbound interior lane of North Eldridge Parkway and maintain one lane in northbound and southbound directions.

Phase II: September 2012
Close southbound exterior lane of North Eldridge Parkway and westbound exterior lane of Memorial Drive. Maintain one lane in southbound and westbound directions.

Phase III: September 2012 – October 2012
Close eastbound exterior lane of Memorial Drive and southbound exterior lane of Eldridge Parkway. Maintain one lane in eastbound and southbound directions.

Phase IV: October 5, 2012 – November 15, 2012
Close two northbound exterior lanes of North Eldridge Parkway and maintain one 12’ lane in northbound direction.

Phase V: November 16, 2012 – December 1, 2012
Construct the proposed pavement overlay:

  1. Close eastbound interior and exterior lanes of Memorial Drive.  Maintain one lane in eastbound and southbound directions.
  2. Close westbound interior and exterior lanes of Memorial Drive.  Maintain one lane in eastbound and southbound directions of Memorial Drive
  3. Close southbound exterior lane of North Eldridge Parkway and westbound exterior lane of Memorial Drive.  Maintain one lane in southbound and westbound directions.
