HCFCD Public Notice:

The Harris County Flood Control District will hold a Community Engagement Meeting to share information resulting from a study of Bridges and Potential Channel Bypasses along Buffalo Bayou. The purpose of this meeting is to inform residents about this high-level analysis and share the study’s findings.

The study titled “Hydraulic Evaluation of Bridge Crossings and High Flow Bypasses in Buffalo Bayou” was initiated by community input during the Bond Program comment period in 2018. The request was to determine whether bridges crossing Buffalo Bayou obstruct flow for major storm events, and if meanders between Beltway 8 and Shepherd Drive have the potential to convey additional flow through excavation of high-flow bypasses.

The goal of the study was to identify the potential hydraulic benefits of proposed bridge and channel improvements along Buffalo Bayou. Additionally, the report identified the possible benefits of modifying Buffalo Bayou between Highway 6 and Beltway 8.

This study was funded with bonds approved by Harris County voters on August 25, 2018. Community engagement is an important component of the Bond Program, and we invite your participation as the program is implemented. The Community Engagement Meeting will be held on:

MEMORIAL DRIVE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, FELLOWSHIP HALL
